Illinois Politics As Usual...

December 9, 2008 22:16 by Jon

I can't resist commenting on the mess that our esteemed governor has gotten himself into.  I think that I and the majority of the rest of Illinois already knew that Blagojevich is corrupt - what we didn't know was the extent of his corruption.  Read about his attempt to sell Barack Obama's vacant Senate seat to the highest bidder in the Wall Street Journal - Governor Jailed in Alleged Graft Spree

What I find unfathomable is how brazenly he went about his business following the vacancy of Obama's Senate seat, despite knowing that for five years federal authorities had been investigating him for other potential misconduct.  And just yesterday, he told reporters, "If anyone wants to tape my conversations, go right ahead."

He said he wanted to get something for the appointment to Obama's vacant seat - well I think he'll be getting a jail cell instead.

I look forward to the day when this crook is removed from office.  It's a sad day for the state, but, unfortunately, that's Illinois politics as usual.
